Three people have been killed and one person was critically injured in a crash involving a motorcycle, authorities said.

The crash occurred in the 4500 block of South Belmont Road about 7:45 a.m.

Wednesday, according to Chicago Police.

A police vehicle was driving north on Belmont when the driver lost control of his motorcycle, striking the rear of the cruiser.

The motorcycle flipped over on Belton Road and was sent crashing into a building, said Chicago Police Sgt. John Escalante.

A 44-year-old man and a 39-year, female passenger died in the crash.

Escalantes said the two people were riding their motorcycles southbound on Belington Road when they were struck by the motorcycle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female passenger, who had been sitting in the back seat, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was in critical condition.

The motorcycle was totaled.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported by helicopter to Mount Hope Hospital, Escalantis said.

He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

No arrests have been made.
